Missionaries in every parish we serve
Sisters of Nirmala Province work as missionaries in mission stations and parishes, taking an active role in guiding children and adults in the life of the Church and preparing the faithful to receive the sacraments.
We give great importance to home visiting. We visit all the houses in the mission or parish, listen to the people and offer guidance where needed, give necessary help to the needy, and take part in prayer meetings held in the homes.
Every Wednesday the members of each convent go out in pairs to all the houses in their neighbourhood — regardless of caste and creed — building good relationships and sharing the Word of God.
Missionaries
How we accompany God’s people
Mobile Mission Team
Six sisters, freed from all other duties, stay in one mission centre or parish for a week or two — praying with the people, relating to every member of every family, listening, counselling, preparing them for the sacraments and strengthening communion in the church community.
Little Missionaries of Jesus
Aiming at the spiritual growth and virtuous life of children, we give a monthly chart of virtues to practise. Children fill it in, return it to the sister at month’s end and receive a new one. About 400 children take part.
Divine Family
We help couples lead a virtuous family life by listening and guiding them, preparing them for the sacraments and sharing the lives of saintly married couples.
Retreat Team
A trained team of five sisters conducts youth and Christeen retreats in schools, parishes and mission stations — and trains young women to lead them.
Counselling
Sisters trained in counselling serve in schools, parishes, retreat centres and other institutions.
Suvisesha Sangam
Several sisters are members of the Suvisesha Sangam of the Malankara Catholic Church and take part in its programmes.
Evangelization Centre
Chaikottukonam (since 1998) is the evangelization centre of Nirmala Province, where sisters assist in pastoral activities.
Mission in Andhra Pradesh
At Kaikaluru and Perali, sisters engage in the evangelization ministry among the poor and non-Christians.
Parish Ministry
In nearly every community sisters assist in parish activities, teach catechism and visit families.
